Back in the dates, Our Pollachi is gifted with beauty of nature as it was known as “Pozhil Vaitchi”. Located at the foothills of Western Ghats with an unbelievably pleasant weather throughout the year, it was a green haven for decades and some may fondly call it as Poor man’s Ooty. By passing dates due to ever growing needs and increase of human heads in this region took a toll on its nature and resources it blessed with.
That’s when a voice started to make its sound through G.P. Karthick the founder and co-ordinator of GP Green voice in the year 2003. It is a Non-Profitable group focuses on preserving local bio-diversity through various greening processes and campaign to restore the beauty of Pollachi and its surroundings.
As green lovers we have been actively involved in various greening activities around the city includes tree-plantation campaigns, “One Tree, One Rupee” drive, “Recreation of a Forest Ecosystem”, green awareness campaign etc. Till date we have planted and maintained over 12,566 trees with a survival rate of almost 90 % in the areas of Pollachi – Palghat Road especially areas like Gopalapuram, etc. Apart from this we also support education of young kids and students through self funding. As we believe they are our backbone of our society and flag bearer of this nature and resources. Awarness Program also conducted for Green Environment.
